“I wrestled with alcohol and drugs for decades. My first residential treatment was in 1987, and over the next thirty years I cycled through some of the top programs, including Hazelden and Betty Ford, never finding lasting sobriety. My turning point came in Pontiac, Michigan, where I began a relationship with Christ and entered the GCH Life Skills Program in spring 2021. Before arriving, I was drinking a half-gallon of liquor a day and facing criminal charges. I joined the Aftercare Program in June 2022, completed it in June 2024, and now live independently in the community.

Those two years of aftercare—and stable housing—were vital to my recovery and growth. Volunteering and activities built friendships and a Christ-centered community. Today I attend at Grace Gospel Fellowship, meet with a group, and work as a social worker with Face Addiction Now at the Sterling Heights Police Department, helping others facing homelessness, addiction, and mental-health crises, with hope and purpose.”
