Laura’s Story: Finding Safety, Stability, and Hope at Grace Centers of Hope

Laura’s journey to Grace Centers of Hope is a powerful story of survival, healing, and restoration.
She grew up in a home marked by alcohol and abuse. From a young age, Laura learned how to rely on herself and push forward, even when life felt overwhelming. She worked hard to build a better future, put herself through school, and graduated from Ross Medical Education Center in 2011. After graduation, she began working as a medical assistant in pain clinics.

For a time, Laura was doing everything she could to create a stable life.
But in 2019, everything began to change. Her grandmother passed away, she lost her job, and her relationship of 15 years ended. In a short period of time, Laura felt like she had lost almost everything. The emotional pain became overwhelming, and after an overdose, police came and saved her life.

Laura later entered mental health court, where she took classes and learned DBT skills that helped her regulate her emotions, rebuild structure, and begin moving forward again.

From 2020 to 2024, life became more stable. Laura had her own apartment, a dog, and a car. But after experiencing another traumatic situation, she lost her job and apartment. She became homeless and began struggling with drug addiction.
Eventually, Laura made the decision to seek help through drug treatment. From there, she found Grace Centers of Hope.

At Grace Centers of Hope, Laura found more than a place to stay. She found a safe, stable environment where she could begin healing, learning, and rebuilding her life.

Today, Laura says:
“I am doing great now. I have a safe, stable environment. I am learning so much about myself and learning to trust the world again.”

Laura’s story is a reminder that recovery and restoration are possible when someone has the right support, structure, and care.

Through the programs at Grace Centers of Hope, residents receive meals, shelter, recovery support, life skills training, spiritual guidance, and the stability they need to begin again.
